My team at my store is amazing. I have a caring Store Director that really looks out for our interests. The discount is awesome. I had no prior experience in retail before this but my team really took me under their wing because they said they saw potential and I've learned a lot about the business of retail and about fashion through them.

The company has been doing badly and we can see it from our customers' lack of interest in current products. However, we are probably from the worst of it at this point and I think it's going to get better. There is not much opportunity for growth but I never took this job as a permanent one so that's not a problem for me. My biggest complaint is probably the lack of awareness any upper level management (past our store) has in regards to our store/location and the people in it and/or the needs of their associates. Our regional manager selectively responds to emails and took more than 6 months to promote our current store director to her position from the time that she first mentioned it. That is completely unacceptable. In the meantime, she was the "acting" store director, getting paid the same salary she had as the assistant store manager while doing the job of someone above her. I just think that's appalling. Also, as a manager, I have to say our sales associates give so much more than their minimum wage ($9 - $10) requires them to but the company gives so little incentives or rewards for this kind of effort (besides the nice discount), so our management team actually buys gift cards for best sellers and other things in our store. I wish corporate would be more supportive of this.

Communication around major organizational changes has been vague and inconsistent, leaving employees with significant uncertainty and little confidence in the direction of the business. Morale has declined considerably. Many employees feel that years of experience, performance, and institutional knowledge are being undervalued in favor of rigid policies and top-down decision making.
