For context I found out I was autistic in my mid 40s, so have always had communication issues but only found out the reason later in life. When I interviewed at Jaama, I brought up my communication issues, this didn't seem to be an issue as I was offered a job at a decent salary. Being a developer of many years I was used to buddying up with someone to get up to speed at a new company. This wasn't the case, and the team leader I first had barely interacted with me and left the business after a few months on a seemingly mid life crisis. My next team leader, I thought might be better, so I explained the lack of onboarding in my first months there and the fact I was autistic (which I wouldn't do normally, but felt frustrated at this point). I thought it might garner some understanding and some simple measures that could help me crack on with what I'm good at. Things were ok for a while, but then I was put on a big project with some other developers, I even did many 1000s lines of code changes which I had to shelve because I had to wait for another developer to finish unit tests. So even had to stop doing any further work. Then all of sudden I was taken of the project because I wasn't "suitable". So I was set doing small projects all by myself with little interaction, like I was being sidelined. Things got even worse, I was having very small issues thrown at me, including my communication skills, I even got excused of earning too much for someone with lack of communication skills, which is bizarre when you think it was them that decided what to offer me after me telling them in an interview. All of these led me to believe I was being bullied, and because I'm autistic in particular. I was even advised not to raise a grievance over this, but was ultimately bullied out of the company.

I am very sorry to hear that things didn’t work out well for you at Jaama. Jaama is a very successful company and we recognise that a large part of our success is because of the people within our business. We really do want people to do well and enjoy their time at Jaama, this promotes efficient and effective work practices and is generally a win-win situation for both Jaama and our colleagues. I can’t talk about individual cases on line, but sometimes we have to accept that things just don’t work out between a colleague and their company which is unfortunate for all concerned. I would like to wish you all the best for the future. Martin Evans
