I had a mixed experience during my time at Kojo. There are undoubtedly some exceptionally talented individuals within the team who work incredibly hard. However, I also observed, particularly at the management level, a notable lack of experience and a limited understanding of what is required to deliver a consistently professional product. Unfortunately, there also appeared to be little willingness to engage with or learn from those who possess that knowledge.
In my personal experience, I encountered unprofessional behavior from some members of management and in some occasions I would call it bullying. For example, when I respectfully requested clarification around my responsibilities, I was met with a response that was both inappropriate and hostile – You’ll do whatever the f*** I tell you to do.
Additionally, I witnessed high levels of stress and burnout among staff—more so than in any other workplace I’ve encountered in my 20-year career. These issues were not meaningfully addressed by management or HR, despite the presence of a dedicated “Head of Employee Wellbeing.” Staff turnover was also notably high, which further impacted team cohesion and morale.
Given my experience, I would not recommend Kojo as a fulfilling or supportive place to work. If considering a role there, I would advise doing so on a freelance basis and remaining professionally distant from internal politics.
