Vantaggi

I am absolutely thrilled to be working at Kompan. I feel privileged and rewarded to get to bring fun, fitness and health solutions to society. I think the office has some really fun perks like specialty coffee days, holiday events, etc. While all companies can have their hiccups and Kompan is working through a bit of growing pains, I think the people are fantastic. This is an oasis of growth and opportunity compared to the toxic and downsizing environments that many working in tech face.

Svantaggi

As a result of tremendous growth, the company has some growing pains to work through. It's a good problem to have.

Vantaggi

The peers you work with are great. I think it's safe to say that you will get along with everyone on your team no matter what department you join. I love Kompan's mission, the products are great and working at Kompan makes you feel like you are doing something good. The past 4.5+ years at Kompan has led me to some friendships that I will hopefully have forever. I was able to find support in so many amazing coworkers across all departments during my time at Kompan. I think once Kompan is through this rough period, there is a chance for it to be a good place to work.

Svantaggi

Pay does not match market pricing, though leadership will say that's because of our benefits. No market comparison has been done in years. A manager of a 12 person team should not be making $67K. I was also reached out to for a new (non-managerial, but specialist) role after my departure and told that I would be paid better than I was previously for this new role. The offer ended up being around $70K (we didn't get further in the process so I don't know the exact number it would be). Considering I talked about compensation in my exit interview, I was extremely confused by HR saying this was a better offer. Management/leadership isn't consistent across teams, some managers offer no support for their employees or they do just enough to get by. That being said, managers of the back office teams often find themselves spread thin with no support from upper management. I asked for additional team members to be added to my team multiple times due to increasing workload and did not get approval, so took on additional work myself to help out my team, leading to my burnout. Upper management's focus has only been on sales, but never how to improve the sales process. When issues keep popping up because of a bad sell, there is no preventative measures taken for the next time. The same issue will pop up again somewhere else. Historically, sales leadership has not given their teams the tools to sell well; no processes are outlined with proper documentation. People in the support roles are leaned heavily on for this training when they run across an issue or ask the sales rep a question and find out the sales rep never had any training on the process. The president of the company has created a "boys club" atmosphere in the exec team. They make all the calls themselves with no input or knowledge of what will actually work for the company. When changes are implemented company wide, the communication on those changes is as vague as possible. Then when people ask their managers for clarification, they get varying answers, leading to more confusion. Sexism is rampant. Multiple comments get thrown around that are dismissive of women, even by one of the owners of the national sales conference. Women in management aren't listened to and have to jump through hurdles that are not there for the men. Sales reps/managers are allowed to act like bullies. A certain person on the Texas team is going to drive everyone out by the constant disrespect he gives people. He was somehow promoted and given more power than he should have with how he treats others consistently. Would not recommend joining if you are planning to be in operations. The current outlook is not great and I think it will take a while for those teams to get to a stable environment.
