Probably fair to say they were a good example of hiring way too many people relative to the actual product they had successfully found market fit with (fundamentally, a 4 page website and it's backend). In my two years there they went from about 15 people, up to 40+, and back down to around 10ish (plus some offshore), and I'd estimate they had enough monthly revenue to pay the 4/5 senior execs. They were quite transparent about this, and once it became clear they had reached the upper limit of that market and none of their other products would stick, the outcome seemed a logical one. It was disappointing that the final wave of redundancies was handled such that our bonus payments were held to ransom, but I also understand the need for a cold and cynical play from a would-be CEO. I'm sure that everyone involved will continue to do well as everyone was talented. I don't know anything about their current business as I gather they have pivoted into trying to think of an AI angle.
