Vantaggi
Flexible schedule (if you don't want 40 hour weeks and you don't care what department you work in)
Svantaggi
Low pay, advertises a flexible schedule but if you can't work certain hours or certain days they may transfer you to a department where those hours are available so you don't really get to choose where you work. There is no sick pay or sick leave for part time associates and very little sick leave for full-time associates. As a full-time associate, you're guaranteed 40 hour weeks but you can't choose your hours or what days you want to work. Kroger advertised great benefits such as insurance, and those available in all technicalities, but you have to jump through hoops to get it. If someone calls off, company policy states that management is supposed to either find someone to cover the associate's shift or cover it themselves, but they never do that. The union protects the employees that don't do their jobs and doesn't help the hardworking employees that do deserve a job here. They take money out of your paycheck every week for very little/negligible benefits. In my two years of working at Kroger, I can't think of a single time where the union has protected me or made me feel secure in my job. Management imposes a ridiculous amount of pressure on employees that is not worth the pay; often forcing associates to do work outside their scope of range, and will often put associates in random departments they have no experience in whatsoever.
