Vantaggi

They are trying to improve employee morale by offering work from home, casual dress code all week, and regular employee surveys to gauge morale. Good employee policies, at least on paper.

Svantaggi

One of the best kept secrets of the company is that the monthly employee surveys are used in the manager reviews, so the managers will attempt to tell you how to respond to surveys (specifically not selecting anything less than a 7 on a scale of 1-10), so they artificially have good results for their performance reviews. This creates a distrustful environment, and can lead to manager retaliation against anyone they see as "deliberately" giving low scores to "get back" at the manager. Other issues include an overly competitive environment, which can lead to people who are supposed to be teammates actually undermining each other and stabbing each other in the back to get ahead. Add to that the constant reorganizations and shedding of valuable IT roles, and you get a work environment that is less than pleasant.

Vantaggi

Good benefits. Generous 401k match

Svantaggi

Started my career at Liberty Mutual as a Workers' Compensation intern. In the beginning, everything was going well. The workload was demanding, but I genuinely enjoyed the job and the work I was doing. One year later, I got promoted to claim adjuster. Things changed after my manager was seriously injured in a car accident. The department director took over managing our team, and the work environment became completely different. She was extremely rude and practiced excessive micromanagement. She expected me not to take any PTO if my work wasn't completely finished, even when I needed time off because my grandmother had suddenly passed away. The constant pressure and lack of empathy took a serious toll on my mental health. I developed depression during that time and eventually had to seek help from a psychologist. In the end, I decided to leave Liberty Mutual. It was one of the best decisions I made for my well-being, and I would not consider returning to the company.
