Vantaggi
You really are helping students learn to read and comprehend, which is fantastic in itself. This job is great for college students going for Education, especially in the Special Education field. The hour lunch is great, and it's been easy to make friends among my fellow coworkers. For a part-time summer job, the pay isn't too bad either.
Svantaggi
The training is tedious (when I was in training I had to work July 4th for the same 9 hours as all the other days), and the work is inconsistent. There is a bigger focus on kindly correcting students and prompting them with rewards to behave vs reprimanding those who get quite out of control in and out of sessions. My biggest peeve is how they treat the clinicians like children, thinking extending a weekly meeting during lunch to a half hour so you can play a kiddie game is more beneficial to the clincian than allowing them to get the most time they can during their lunch break. I understand and appreciate that they are promoting a fun office environment, but making professional meetings into mini game shows comes off as belittling and unnecessary rather than fun.
