Supportive team members, great training that prepares you for work in the field, opportunity to do work that truly matters.

As social workers we tend to have an idea about how things should be, and can get caught up in frustration when those ideas are not manifested in the day to day. Focusing on the negative does not bring about positive change.

I had lovely co-workers (for the most part) while working for this agency. The team is small and close knit. The training period is very lengthy, but it helps prepare you for the immense amount of paperwork the position requires.

The training was broken down into weeks in the office shadowing and weeks out of the office training. The shadow weeks were extremely long and underwhelming. You are at the whim of your supervisor and co-workers to provide you with opportunities to shadow and learn from them. The only time my supervisor offered me any opportunities to learn from her was when she planned on sticking me with the case after I was done with training. These were usually cases that no one wanted to deal with.
