Some really great people further down the ladder. CEO and COO were great, as well.

Other execs and managers on the corporate side are two-faced, manipulative, petty/vindictive, and/or don't have the competencies required to excel in their jobs. Serious kiss-up culture is fostered, subordinating talent to boot-licking. Constructive Termination (making work life unlivable so the person quits instead of laying them off and having to pay unemployment) seems prevalent.
