It's a job. You get paid. And as is true everywhere, the majority of the kids are terrific to work with -- as a teacher you get back what you put in.

A broken district with managers, not leaders. The 3rd/4th school has a terrific person running it (staff is insular and unfriendly, though); the rest of the schools limp along and the middle school is downright awful (about 25 percent turnover). Consequently, colleagues aren't collegial, there is zero interest in ideas and innovation and everyone is either exhausted or checked out all the time. The board isn't stupid but doesn't really know what's happening in the schools. Maybe it's something in the water, but it's just been a bad district for learning for years.
