Vantaggi
Not much - you get paid on time, benefits are decent but have gotten worse over the years. If manager allows it you can work from home
Svantaggi
Where do I begin? The amount of red tape you have to put up with is infuriating. What is trivial at most places is a major pain here. Management agonizes over deciding anything, despite good advice from subject matter experts. Witch hunts are also common for incidents, and the firm's risk-reality-averse attitude is unreal. There is an expectation that things will work 100% of the time, and will quickly dispense blame. Hard work and dedication to your craft are not really appreciated here it seems. It all really depends on the manager you work for and whether you belong to the network of plugged in managers. Finally, the east-west political battles are destroying morale. You have a situation where there are clueless east coast deadwood management and overeager but equally clueless west coast managers that don't understand the business unit they're now in charge of. My advice is to steer clear of this toxic environment until the dust settles.
