Vantaggi
Because the editorial standards are very low, when it comes to writing, you can write pretty much whatever you want – including simply making things up – and there won't be any consequence. So in that respect there is a high degree of creativity allowed. The workload is very manageable and if you like the kind of job where you can just clock out at the end of the day without any stress from work following you around, it's really perfect in that regard. The offices are clean and nicely designed. All the equipment is new. The systems are easy to learn and if you have a pet, sometimes you can even bring it in. Casual dress code. Good systems in terms of moving information around (slack, trello, absence.io, etc.).
Svantaggi
Major downside is the kind of content you are asked to publish, some of which is simply fake stories that have been recycled on the internet for years and years. Other stories are of a tabloid nature: freak show type material about people who have skin diseases and such. If you care at all about your integrity as an editor this is not a good place to work. The management structure claims to be "flat" but it is anything but. You will be micromanaged a lot and almost every decision has to be taken "upstairs" to the CEOs. There is no trust of the editors to make good decisions by themselves. And the CEOs are strangely absent and inaccessible. Everything has to go between a middle manager to the CEOs. The most bizarre element of working there is this extreme thin-skinnedness about the content. The sites publish really bottom-feeding type clickbait, but you're not allowed to talk about it or to joke about it. They take their clickbait deadly seriously. Communication is terrible. Information is spread by rumor. Positions and responsibilities are constantly changing, but you have to figure that out by bumping into a few walls first. The management very clearly do not care about their employees - you definitely feel like an assembly line worker. Your ideas are not sought nor valued. They have told people they won't get a contract extension on the very last day of their "Probezeit." There is an overwhelming sense of paranoia among the employees and turnover is high. There is very little opportunity to advance within the company.
