Great team great manager all around great

Watson Health Imaging is an IBM company. It's IBM, which is cool. Benefits are good. Some of the people you get to meet are really great. IBM provides the tools to collaborate with teams around the world. Good internal website for self education. There is a part of the company that wants to attract the best and brightest.

There is a part of the company that does not know how to retain the best and brightest. Some of the management are heartless machines. There is a feeling that the employees are are just cogs in a big machine. They are all interchangeable and disposable. Much of the very important "must read" communication seems geared towards sales and/or management. I constantly got "required trainings" on topics a software developer would never use. Its a HUGE company with an impersonal HR and IT department. It feels like upper management is constantly shifting business priorities. I think they feel they have their eyes on the road ahead, but meanwhile, the wheels are falling off. Departure was sweet release.
