The company's ONLY focus is on food service and how to make more profits. This means that as a dietitian, in addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will be required to do "meal rounds". This is where you visit each patient on your assigned floor and ask them questions regarding the quality of their food and service. Management does not understand or care how this may detract from the respect that we have been trying to earn for years from physicians, nurses etc. If we don't do the meal rounds, we get threatened with point deductions on our end of the year evaluation which they call a "KPI". The KPI is extensive and evaluates dietitians on a variety of food service and profit oriented questions - none of which have to do with our job. Additionally, after you have worked there a certain number of years, raises become minimal no matter how well you do on your KPI. There have been several years where everyone received a 0% raise despite good performance and the fact that the company was doing well. In addition to the raises being minimal, the starting pay is very low, therefore do not expect to making much money in this job. In the several years I have been with Morrison, we have been short staffed the vast majority of the time. There is a huge amount of turnover. Management does not appear to care very much and is not interested in looking at underlying reasons why people are leaving, as this will implicate themselves. The management is also extremely micromanaging. We are required to fill out "productivity sheets" where we have to document our time in 5 minute increments. If we don't see enough patients in a day we are chastised and then assigned more units regardless of the patient acuity that we are dealing with. The managers are not receptive to hearing our comments and they act quite condescending as well. The company does not provide good education materials for us to use. We are not allowed access to the AND diet manual because Morrison has their own diet manual - which does not provide detailed enough information and is laid out poorly. In summary, this is a very "corporate" job. If you're looking to be micromanaged and used as a food service employee all for very low pay, then this may be the right job for you, however if not, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
