Honestly, I've got nothing positive to say about MPS.

Long hours, low pay, uninteresting projects, unpleasant coworkers, unstable industry. Tech-wise, the company is so stuck in the past it's just embarrassing and appalling. Couple that with 0 willingness to try anything new and you've got a disaster that is the entire IT/tech department.

Dear former employee, thank you for your feedback. Of course, it's difficult to hear that you have nothing positive to say about the company. It's true - hours can be long at times and this is when we pay OT. I have to disagree with you on our people - we believe, they are the most valuable part of MPS but of course, it's a matter of one's taste. HR team was approachable and generally supportive Some good perks: flexible WFH, access to industry events, opportunities to socialise with colleagues and to develop industry knowledge. Colleagues were talented, dedicated people working hard in genuinely difficult conditions.

The nature of the role is high-pressure: you're managing large client accounts with immovable deadlines, which creates a sustained level of stress that the work culture did little to counterbalance. While teamwork was regularly encouraged in name, the nature of the role itself left little room for it: individual client deadlines rarely aligned, making collaboration difficult in practice. Beyond that, systemic changes were often resisted by senior team members and management. Long-tenured employees, understandably set in their workflows, were rarely expected to adapt, which made onboarding and integration difficult for newer staff. Questions were not always welcome, even for things that weren't clearly documented or communicated, which made it hard to grow with confidence in the role. Several members of management and line management have personal relationships with one another. During my time, there was little acknowledgement of how this affected team dynamics, and in practice, the impact was tangible. Feedback to management was not well-received, which eroded trust. Line managers appeared to be under considerable pressure, and while I have sympathy for their position, that pressure often filtered down to employees rather than being directed upward. Frequent structural changes implemented without transparency, consultation, or explanation added to a general atmosphere of instability and mistrust. The opportunities for career growth within the team or company were also very limited.

I've been with MPS for over six years, and during that time, I've many opportunities to grow within my role, develop new skills, and build strong relationships across the business. One of the things I’ve always appreciated is the sense of connection and collaboration amongst colleagues, some of my closest friendships have been formed here, and there's a real team spirit that makes coming to work enjoyable. I genuinely feel valued by both my manager and my team, where there’s mutual respect, open communication, and a clear commitment to helping each other succeed, always with a sense of humour. Over the past year and a half, since we transitioned into an EOT, I’ve seen even more positive changes across the company. There’s a noticeable shift toward transparency, inclusivity, and forward thinking.

As remote working has become more prominent since Covid, I’ve found it a little harder to stay connected with certain departments. I miss seeing certain faces. But that said, it makes our in person events like the summer and Christmas parties all the more meaningful and a great way to celebrate together.
