(Hi, Rand from Moz replying here) I hear you. Growing a company is hard. Being at a growing company is hard, too. And in the last couple years, I agree with some of your critiques. Folks seek out social connections at work, and that can often feel like cliques. I don't think you want management to get involved and try to prevent that sort of thing or even to guide it, and I imagine it's something that happens (and can be a force for good) at any company over a certain size. I also agree that we did a lot of throwaway work in the past few years, especially since we shut down a couple products recently. That certainly sucks, but it's also part of the culture of experimenting and learning -- some lessons you learn are gonna be "well, that didn't work, so let's not do it/launch it/use it." Hard to know in advance, but painful nonetheless. I disagree on the managerial support one. I don't doubt you felt this and that it was real for you, but everyone should expect support from their managers (not just at Moz) and if you don't get it, you should talk to a level up or to Rebecca or heck, to me or Sarah. The "throw you under the bus" one is obviously the most concerning. I haven't seen that behavior, but if you want to drop me a line privately and let me know what happened with you, I will do my utmost to make sure it doesn't happen to others in the future.
