Micro management, management that doesn’t know what it is to manage. Our training specifically called out singling people out and groups of people bullying another but that’s exactly what happened in my experience. I came into a team that had been together for over 2yrs and many of the engineers were sour about the fact that I landed a senior engineer role over them and instead of squashing the minors the manager put fuel on the flames which just led to much worse working conditions including hostile behavior torwards myself. As soon as I came in I was dumped into the deep end with little to no support all anyone did was tell me to use what was already created but what was already created differed significantly from the two apps, different libraries and more, making it impossible to just “reuse” what already existed. And as for support well the team already disliked me for being new and having the highest title below our manager so that was a non option and despite all this I did my best and created solutions that worked.
