Thanks for your feedback and advice. We have been trying to make sure we don't hire any "non-deserving candidates" as you mention. I personally meet all Director+ level candidates, for example, before we make an offer to them. Sometimes though we make a mistake and overestimate the fit. I can't promise we won't make mistakes any more but I can promise we will get better.
We do realize the importance of middle management being in sync with the company stands for. We have some good ideas on how to improve this - some BUs have already taken a few bold steps in that direction.
Regarding QA, what you say is about to change. We have a few offers out to senior quality people and we may also acquire a company in this space. We are serious about this topic.
