Vantaggi
The pay structure and benefits are amazing. You have the ability to make six figures if you work hard and have sales ability. The ability to quote different companies and present multiple options helps sales and makes the process easy for the client and we offer insurance to some that would not be able to find it otherwise. My experience with management has been mostly positive. My current supervisor is a Saint and he has had a huge hand in my success and drive to continue succeeding because of the mutual respect we have for each other. You have the ability to work as much overtime as you want and increase your income and sales. I believe in the product I am offering and I believe that we are given the freedom to be the professionals and sell the policies that we see fir based on the clients individual circumstances. Also the sales process is tried and true and it does work when used properly and confidently.
Svantaggi
While my experience with management has been positive, I have had brief negative interactions with supervisors that are not my direct supervisor. I also have colleagues that seem to be walking on eggshells because their managers expectations are not backed by the tools to achieve said expectations. It is a very numbers driven company and industry as a whole but different people will have success with different approaches. Some are too involved and micro-manage to the point of destroying confidence or interrupting an interaction with a prospective client. Others do not communicate at all. The areas that need even the slightest improvement seem to be weighed much more heavily than the areas of success. Also I have needed to take time off for health reasons a couple times, one of those was to have a baby. FMLA and short term disability are handled by a third party company and they make it almost impossible for you to actually take advantage of short term disability benefits in which you actually get some income. There is little communication between this third party company and HR and therefore if you have trouble getting leave approved or they don’t want to accept the documents from your medical provider, it is pretty much up to you to handle it and face the consequences if it doesn’t work out in your favor, I was told my benefits would be deducted from the fraction of my pay I was receiving when I was actually approved for short term disability for a short time. I had paystubs that showed the health insurance was coming out of that pay, but upon returning to work my benefits cancelled because they said I owed them for the time I was out. I had to provide documentation and eventually received a very confusing breakdown of what was taken vs what was owed that was impossible to actually understand and therefore impossible to argue and I did have to pay over $600 to get my benefits up to date and make sure my kids and I still had health coverage. That was much better than the original $3600 they were saying I owed but I eventually gave up fighting it because it was taking too much of my time. Sometimes overtime is mandatory. Your shift can change without much notice. You will be required to work some kind of weekend time. They force you to use PTO for circumstances that are sometimes out of your control like system issues or an internet outage.
