This review is for a Senior Analyst position at the Sandy Pond HVDC site. I worked here for several years before resigning in Fall of 2021. This workplace can be characterized by extreme personality types and antiquated/inefficient work practices. These two things make it an extremely difficult and unpleasant place to work and I don't see it changing anytime soon unless there is a complete overhaul/replacement of the management. Here are some of a inexhaustible list of cons: 1) Micromanagement to a such a large degree that it becomes a detriment to productivity and creativity 2) Numerous HR violations including an "unofficial" tracking method of salaried-employees on-site arrival and departure times. Perhaps it is due to the remote location of this site that they have been overlooked. An audit would bring them to light. 3) Caustic management that looks for any opportunity to get you in trouble for both direct- and non-direct reports. In short, they makes your work experience a living hell. 4) Consistent secretive and 'game' playing behavior between management and certain staff members. 5) Very few, if any colleagues can be trusted. Full of people with hidden agendas and/or ulterior motives. People in leadership positions make promises of teamwork and support that never come true. Consistent 'throwing you under the bus' tactics 6) Poor allocation of talent and assignment of projects; mundane tasks are given to employees who have a lot more to bring to the table 7) Very little accountability is held; constant blame-diversion

At NGED the few pros are lessened by the day as the cons are increasing. The idea of a career has gone and now most are resigned to just having a job.

Aside from the reality being very different from what the leadership team sell IE they don't care about people or net zero, it's all spin and marketing. Now at NGED we are in a situation where staff you have known for many years simply disappear from duty and no one seems to know why, a couple of weeks later they have left the business with an NDA. It's happening all over the business. There seems to be a drive to remove any leaders who have industry technical knowledge and replace them with people from outside the industry who knows little to nothing about electricity. Despite safe to say being an important value, speaking out against this usually results in an NDA. It's toxic positivity where playing along seems to be more important than the role you fulfil.
