One Search hired me shortly after I returned from maternity leave from a rival company. From day one Dan McCarthy CEO gave me responsibility, opportunities and encouraged me in every way to get out into the market and use my years of knowledge and network. He showed me from the very moment I started that he believed in me and that my part time hours would not hold me back. When it was difficult for me to attend meetings as I was working from home or needed time to care for my baby, he would always find a way to help and the fantastic team around me (Nameesha in particular) were a great support and I found everyone very collegiate and willing to help. The office culture was fun and inspiring, everyone wanted to do well, there were high standards which created a positive competitive atmosphere, there was a high volume of quality work which made it a busy and exciting place where you could learn so much in a very short space of time. The level of in-depth industry knowledge from all of my colleagues was very impressive and there was very little that Dan did not know himself. He had his finger on the pulse of so many deals / international companies / people moves that he was responsible for changing the shape of many organisations globally and seeing the growth opportunities/ recruitment needs before the client even saw themselves. Despite having been in the recruitment world for 15 years prior to my experience at One Search, I can honestly say it was a hugely positive experience and quite a pivotal role that showed me having a baby didn't need to limit me and that there are companies out there who will encourage you to still be front of house, value your years of experience and help you learn and grow and not demote you to a background researcher just because you are part time. The sector knowledge I gained in the Infrastructure space was second to none. I am enormously grateful for the opportunity that One Search gave to me and for the investment they made in me. The threshold is high and they do expect you to work hard and be a competent expert in your field, no room for slackers but the rewards are high, the bonuses are great and your colleagues will become people you not only respect but also your friends.
