Some longtime members of the team (mostly in education/programming) are very passionate about the work, which was inspiring to see.

-Lack of flexibility (difficult to request time off, very strict in job hours) -Poor onboarding and lack of communication for job expectations -No accountability in leadership (see advice to management) -High turnover -Very poor work-life balance--- kind of expected that you will put the job ahead of anything else in your life just because it is a nonprofit with a mission statement

I gained some more work experiences and had incredible co-workers. I got to run some really fun and unique campaigns which were championed by my manager before they left.

Long timers love to say "There is the right way, the wrong way, and the Ordway". Strategic management had internal turmoil, seemingly ganging up on one member of the leadership team and creating chaos for everyone. There was a problematic person who behaved unprofessionally most of the time. Their manager refused to manage that direct report. They told me that was their choice and I would need to accept it even though it was making doing my job incredibly challenging. There was a lot of managing up in this organization for mid-level managers and even administrative staff. DEI initiatives are boxes to check to make major donors and funders feel good about investing.
