Aside from low pay and not a lot of room for upward mobility, I've found my particular department (they're all different) to be a problem. It was a downright misogynist environment. It was like a bad, manipulative relationship with my boss and coworker that was allowed to exist. I was consistently bullied, perhaps because I was the only woman in my department. I worked there for 5.5 years because, in this field, there is nowhere else to go in the state. I would come home and feel raw. I cried most nights. Although there are lots of long-term, happy employees, it's a big place and I do believe the morale is consistently low throughout OPB. They do everything they can to not show any gratitude or appreciation for their talent. This place is absolutely ridiculous. I now happily work somewhere else and make way more money albeit in a different field. (By the way, they charge 75 cents for a K cup of black coffee and they don't offer cream or sugar. The coffee thing is superfluous but it's a microcosm of the experience.).
