Vantaggi
280blue has been a great agency to start learning about PR, as well as see what marketing is like. The CEO, Kim, has years of experience- which she readily shares. In fact, all of the senior workers have an array of experience in different PR and marketing worlds that help round out the agency and they share that experience with everyone on the team. Working hours are somewhat flexible as well. The agency is working with some fast moving, high growth companies which keeps things interesting. There is also the opportunity to learn about cutting edge technology, which has been fascinating. In the 3 months that I have been working for 280blue, I have learned more about hands-on PR work than my entire master's program. The agency also functions like a family, with everyone working together to bring out the best in each other through disagreements, discussions, and suggestions.
Svantaggi
Working with teammates in a remote setting can be a struggle at times. While many of 280blue's workforce is located in Boulder, there are a few that are in other states. I personally work better when I work in person and can have conversations about things vs messages. I can set up phone calls with my teammates and supervisors, but it doesn't feel the same. There are also times where I feel a little underused, but that is most likely because I am still in the early learning stages. While I am pretty good at multitasking and prioritizing, the need for those abilities can get high from time to time, so you have to be able to adapt and learn quickly. That took me a little while to figure out. Learning the technology of clients can also be tough if you are not technologically oriented.
