Vantaggi
I started working as a Sales Rep and was signed on to an awesome team. They gave me all the support I wanted. After a few months, I came to the decision that I didn't want to be in sales any more, and the local management worked very hard to transfer me to operations in the same branch - where I still am today. I love it on the back side, and I loved it on the sales side too! The people are fantastic, there is a big teamwork vibe. I've worked for several other large corporations, and each branch seemed to talk down about the others. Not the case with Paychex. I even had the opportunity to personally meet the CEO in my first 2 months on the job. He came to our training class and did a Q/A session. The work/life balance is great, even as an hourly employee management is flexible if you need time off for something. They really value the people here.
Svantaggi
The sales jobs is challenging because it is mostly outbound; you generate your own leads. Sales has a great support system with a national telemarketing arm to help generate leads, but you get most of your money yourself. It is WORTH IT if you can keep the momentum up, but that can be hard to do. In operations, it can be frustrating dealing with customer issues, but your team will more than make up for the frustration. The pay is less than the base salary for sales, but to me it's worth it to not have a quota.
