Vantaggi

I had the pleasure to work with highly talented developers, designers and project managers on technical teams

Svantaggi

management was not transparent the entire organization was going through a reorg so I can't blame middle management for the chaos, but I do not think they were champions for the team Upper management did not understand software lifecycle nor the concept that staff could work from home and still accomplish their tasks They did not want to pay me for the work I was taking on. As I advanced in my role, my new boss (I went through 3 in less than 2 years) was very honest in that they would not promote me to a Project Manager position because it would put me in a new pay bracket. I appreciate his honesty and understand middle management's hands were tied. Upper management's focus on squeezing the bottom line blinded them to the talent they had causing high turn over and large knowledge gaps on multiple teams.

Vantaggi

When a project goes according to plan you can work with some great people and make decent money.

Svantaggi

Bad behavior is tolerated when you have a weak team member. They are allowed to remain on payroll, even if they do not effectively contribute. The burden is often placed on the team members willing to pick up the slack. Promotions are not given to the most qualified. They are randomly assigned. There are some horrible scoring directors as a result.
