Vantaggi
Everything in life has advantages and disadvantages. Perry Ellis is overall a good working environment. There is a relaxed working atmosphere and management is not keeping track of every single move you make. It is a comfortable place to work. I won't deny that. Also, it is a great learning experience. If you are just starting out in the job market or if you have just graduated, it is a great place to start and get your feet wet. Perry Ellis is great for that. It is also a fun place to work and there are a lot of interesting people. It is overall a good working environment in this regard.
Svantaggi
There is very little opportunity for growth, if any. Perry Ellis is a company that underpays considerably when compared to similar businesses and other local companies. It is very common to find that you are making 20 - 40% less than equivalent positions at other companies. To site myself as an example, I gained a 30% increase in my salary by going to another company roughly 30 blocks away and I'm doing the exact same thing I was doing there. I know many other people who had the same experience. In addition to this, the company is family owned and operated to the point it feels just like a "Mom and Pop" company. Unfortunately in the case of PEI, it is pretty bad. You find many unqualified people in management positions and the wrong decisions are made all the time. There is no quality training either. There is a serious lack of management skills in general and a lack of manners. There are many uneducated people in good, decision-making positions and it shows. This is not the company you would want to develop your full career in. It is good to get experience and make yourself known. Beyond that, the best thing is to go elsewhere and grow. No growth at PEI.
