Vantaggi

The people are very nice. My bosses are super willing to teach/discuss projects and teach me. Generally, I learn a lot during my internship, setting me up for a quant career. Immensely grateful to my bosses for taking me up. and FREE LUNCH.

Svantaggi

Not flexible working hours (it's ok that every hedge fund is like that, strictly speaking not a con) No headcount to stay as a permanent (but if you are hiring I'm always here haha)

Vantaggi

Pharo is a small, boutique-like hedge fund manager that occupies a full floor in midtown with great views of Central Park. It has a nice family feel. There is no underlying sense of hierarchy meaning everyone is friends no matter what your position. They only hire the cream of the crop so you're surrounded by extremely intelligent people. The culture is very diverse with people of all ethnicities and backgrounds. They offer great benefits such as: health (about 75% covered by the company), full vision &dental about, maternity leave, generous PTO, free lunch and dinner (depending how late you work), semi-stocked kitchen for breakfast, drinks, and a few snacks (nothing crazy like some companies but still very nice), commuter benefits, gym reimbursement, company wide offsites every 3 to 4 years to places such as Africa & Iceland. The environment is very laid back with a casual dress attire and an open door policy vibe. Very minimal micro managing, if any at all, based on the team you work with.

Svantaggi

Since the office is small, teams can be very small which can make the work load heavy for some individuals. There can be a sense of favoritism which makes certain situations or problems that arise difficult. Their hiring process can take months sometimes and they end up losing out on some really good people. The paternity leave is very minimal which I think is odd in a majority male company. Speaking of, they could hire more females.
