Zero Bench Policy (No Project = No Job): The company follows a strict "zero bench" policy, which means if you're not assigned to a billable project, your job security is at risk. While this might help Photon control costs, it creates extreme job insecurity and stress for employees, especially when projects end or get delayed. Hire-and-Fire Culture: There have been multiple reports and experiences of employees being let go with very short notice — sometimes as little as a week. This can happen even to high performers if they are on the bench or if client demand fluctuates. This practice has created an environment of constant uncertainty and low morale. Work-Life Balance: Due to aggressive delivery timelines and lean teams, employees often work extended hours. The lack of a supportive HR policy regarding time off or downtime adds to the burnout risk. Lack of Career Stability & Growth: Due to the reactive hiring/firing policies, long-term planning for one’s career becomes difficult. Internal mobility is limited, and there's no structured L&D (Learning and Development) initiative for skill advancement. Final Thoughts: Photon may work for professionals who are just starting their careers and want quick client exposure or to build a resume with multiple projects. However, for those seeking long-term career stability, strong people-centric policies, and a healthy work environment, Photon’s zero bench and hire/fire model may be a significant downside. Recommendation: Proceed with caution. Clarify project allocation, onboarding timeline, and bench policy before joining.

Really good company to work for. Health benefits were great and was able to negotiate a good rate for my contract

Communication could improve in terms of staying in contact with the contractor. Working with the individual for their next role as the contract is nearing an end would be an area of opportunity as well.

Zero opportunities for growth Limited to no work/life balance No Severance Do not pay when on the bench Wrong team or manager the hr insanity can make it rough (One year they decided july 4th was not a holiday another they decided to lower the salary and increase the percentage that was bonus effectually giving everyone a pay cut).. Honestly a 2 might being generous but i have worked with some nice people there and the vast majority of the people were nice and good just wanting to get the job done . Any 5s are probably fake or the lucky few that do not have to deal with Photon Hr.
