Vantaggi
The job itself isn’t so bad. As in, the general tasks of a live event audio-visual technician are not so bad. You can get your hands on some equipment which will help you get a better AV job later. My coworkers were cool for the most part.
Svantaggi
This is where things get tricky here in terms of writing a review. I am going to leave out specific names and the specific property I worked at. But it was a terrible work environment. Lots of corporate gaslighting in terms of management leading workers on into thinking they’re going to be given a promotion only for that position to be taken by an outside hire. The operations director of the property I worked at got the job through the guy who was the district lead. Lots of toxicity in that workplace. Real training was almost non-existent. Just a bad atmosphere to work at. And if one property is like that, then there are other properties like that. Corporate should be made aware of this.
If you’re the type of person who values a low paycheck (other companies will pay more for this work) over your mental health then this job is for you.
If you’re the type of person who brings others down in order to pull yourself up so you can get ahead, then management at this company is right for you.
If you’re the type of person who wants to learn new things every day, better yourself, and succeed through hard work, this company ain’t it.
My advice for you, should you choose to work here, is to use it as a stepping stone to get you into a higher-paying role at a different company or try to move laterally into an AV adjascent field.
