Vantaggi
Work from home; mostly low level administrative work; work pressure low to nil. Some good work happening on health in bihar because entire Care India org people were absorbed in when they lost their foreign funding.
Svantaggi
1. No direction of what the org wants to achieve. They do anything they get their hands on. Education, climate, skilling, health…
2. Pretty bad reputation in the market. Orgs who have partnered with the foundation have regreted.
3. Foundation Focused on pr and keeping the piramal family happy.
4. People in leadership are mostly generalists. No idea of evidence, economics, data. Some exceptions but v few. Leadership is incapable of writing a one pager or preparing a 10 slide ppt.
5. Culture is full of fear and insecure people. Everyone is a yes man. No questioning. Young people must stay away.
6. Team size is huge, around 1000+ people in the foundation. Mostly working at low wages for field work roles. In a way the foundation does more good by hiring youth from rural and semi urban india than by their research/implementation.
7. Since the mission is mostly pr, the foundation toes the line of the central govt. Adopts their language and focuses on geography of central govt initiatives - aspirational district program, purvodaya states.
8. Ideology is heavily left leaning so dont expect any conversation around private sector or markets
9. Leadership is retired personnel from corporate and defense.
10. High attrition - talent doesn’t stick around. So they hire retired talent from corporate and defense and pay them below market wage
