Vantaggi

The best thing about my time at Plan was my relationships with colleagues. Plan attracts some really great people to work there and I generally enjoyed every day I worked there. In my department there was a lot of opportunity to develop your career. Plenty of staff had started out as volunteers, and entry level staff have plenty of scope to move into more senior roles.

Svantaggi

The organisation has changed hugely over the past few years and by the time I left, i can't say that I really shared the new vision which focused heavily on girls (instead of all children). The Programme Department seemed to be in a state of permanent disarray with quality staff members leaving all the time, usually for the wrong reasons. To be fair, the Public Engagement Department was in a much better state.

friendly colleagues, who are all passionate and align with great cause. Supportive work environment. Interesting work. Pay is decent for the sector.

Svantaggi

Some unclear and complex internal processes which make getting things done slow, lack of opportunities for progression.

Vantaggi

Feminist Leadership Principles Anti-racism Principles: https://careers.plan-uk.org/anti-racism-principles Most staff at all levels committed to creating a feminist work place and questioning the status quo (particularly at entry to Manager levels). Good training. Stand-out is 'Power, Privilege and Bias', designed by Head Office and offered to every member of staff at regular intervals. Helps create an aware and inclusive workplace. Great work/life balance

Svantaggi

There's only so much that can be done to be feminist, anti-racist and inclusive within a typical NGO structure. Internal politics, slow processes and general fear of embracing quick change that you find at most, if not all, medium sized NGOs. Limited development opportunities outside of your immediate role... very much charity sector.
