There is a lot wrong within Pluralsight. The company has a complete lack of structure, where there are hierarchies that don't make any sense. There is a lot of overlap between certain roles. For example, Account Executives and Renewal Managers have essentially the same role, where there is no need to have a specific distinction since AEs already work with existing accounts anyway. In the BD org, there is a lot to be said and not a lot of it is good.
In the Dublin office there are three BDR teams, as they are supposed to work on different territories, but not a lot of that structure makes sense either. None of the three managers are particularly helpful and there is no clear pathway to getting promoted. There are top performing BDRs that have excelled at their role for years, but due to preferential treatment, not performance, certain people are getting promoted above other high performers.
All the information that is relayed to you is vague and opaque especially coming from the sales director who sits with the BDRs. She is highly biased towards certain employees and refuses to relay information in a clear and concise way. Due to this, it's very difficult to improve your performance based on feedback.
The KPIs in the BDR team are nonsensical, and don't result in more revenue or high quality opportunities being created. Most of the "top performers" are able to fake opportunities, even though the pipeline generated is of very poor quality.
There are advantages in the office, but don't think you are able to use them without the sales director reprimanding you. Expect to be heavily micro managed.
You are promised the world when joining, but once you are settled into the environment, you soon realise Pluralsight has absolutely no culture or identity as a company. You are lucky if there is one team outing per quarter.
Many BDRs are blackmailed by having their probation extended. Even though Pluralsight sells a learning platform, there is absolutely no effort put into up skilling their own teams. The product is not very easy to sell, and you probably know why.
