- PJP work on the problems which keep senior management up at night. The projects are high stakes and the team needs to drive to quality insights and actions in short space of time. It's rare that a fresh grad will ever touch these kinds of projects, but you do at PJP - Top-tier strategy-only focus; I haven't touched a reorganisation, procurement / sourcing, or PMO-style project since I've been here (thank God!) - Partner's are not interested in doing crap projects for the sake of making money; they refer other firms to do that - The people are extremely intelligent and there are no jerks. All employees seem to form incredibly close relationships with each other. - Extremely flexible work/life balance where most people have various side hustles on the go

Given the firm was established nearly 30 years ago and some of the partners have been here since the start, the culture can be a little traditional and stale. Only recently has there been a HR/Culture function which is currently shaking things up and introducing new events and activities (e.g. boat parties, office podcasts, social societies)

Top-tier boutique strategy firm, with purest focus on CEO/board-level strategy (>70%) of all the top-tier firms (McKinsey, BCG and Bain). The work is incredibly interesting and delivered with exceptionally high quality. Increasingly performing impactful and interesting government work. Fantastic opportunities to work closely with senior directors and clients. Teams are typically only 2-4 people, so far less chance of being drowned out in a team of 10-15 typical of the global firms. Solid investment (talent, time + money) in people and culture, some outstanding and unique leadership in this respect. Culture is quite supportive and collaborative, not hyper-competitive and ruthless. Brand new technologically-enabled office with stunning Sydney harbour views. Extensive international exposure for those who want it. About 30% of the work is international, and there are longer-term exchange opportunities with Scandinavian boutique top-tier firm QVARTZ. Not stifling and bureaucratic in the slightest.

Mostly typical consulting cons - client service can be challenging and demanding at times. Smaller scale means some 'nice' corporate support goes wanting (e.g. research or production support), but you quickly realise this isn't a big deal. No internationally recognised brand name (although the brand is very strong in senior executive circles in Australia).
