Vantaggi

- People were nice and friendly - Flexibility for parents - Hybrid working model but the company has remote employees

Svantaggi

My main struggle during my time here was the lack of support from my manager. The first 4-5 months were pretty frustrating and disorganized, especially when it came to projects, priorities, and training. It felt like my manager wasn't great at training me, didn't really know the product, and was too focused on throwing me into major projects even though I was still learning the ropes. Things improved a bit when the other QA returned from maternity leave, and honestly, I felt like she should've been the QA manager. At the same time, I was dealing with personal challenges related to domestic violence, which definitely took a toll on my mental well-being. Despite facing periods of deep depression, I consistently showed up and gave my best at work given my circumstances. Even though my manager never clearly communicated the exact metrics we were supposed to meet every week, he still compared me (a relatively new hire who was constantly reminded that it takes some time to fully know the product) to those who had been there for years and knew the product inside out. The ironic thing is, my colleague and I were the ones handling the team workflow operations, putting together metrics reports, and trying to figure out what metrics looked like for a team of 2. With all the ongoing projects, we hadn't even presented a consistent number yet. Despite not meeting the same daily metrics as the others, I still completed my duties by project deadlines. I put in extra hours when needed, created/implemented a testing workflow, and even taught people how to use the task management system they use. During one of my write-ups for lack of performance, I mustered the courage to share with my manager what I was going through. I cautiously referred to it as "family issues" because I didn't feel comfortable disclosing the full extent of the abuse, especially considering my discomfort talking to him. Sadly, my disclosure was misunderstood as me making excuses for my lack of performance, which only added to my dismissal. But hey, this was my experience. Yours might be different.
