Good company... Bad clientele... And you DO NOT matter! - Recensione dipendente - Supervisor presso Premier Security

Firstly let me say, And I am NOT a disgruntled worker... I am grateful for "Premier" during this recession! But I had no choice to but to stay at my job-- and I hated it... The instant something great opened up for me I was gone like The Flash. The owner of the company will tell you one thing, when the reality is another. I just wish someone had told me honestly what the job entailed before I got envolved and commited myself financially and had to be stuck in a job I didn't like until I got my new job. But believe me, lesson learned, and maybe I can give you a heads up... Your responsibilities will be many and well above and beyond what you originally think. 1) Turnover is incredible here. Why? Because the juice isn't worth the squeeze! For as nice as management and office people are? They pay the minimum they can get away with paying you- if you're experienced and older you'll get a little more, and there are no raises unless you've been there for a really long time... And even then don't expect much. 2) They have THE most rude and entitled clientele on the eastern seaboard! So many sites other Security Company's dropped like a hot rock because of the client's absues- they couldn't handle the turnover and threats of lawsuits! Premier snatched'em up. Your job is to basically be Customer Service & Complaint Department for your site, (whipping boy/gal) for the crazies that live and work in the buildings they serve... I cannot even begin to tell you how much crap the Concierges have to deal with on a daily basis. People come home in a bad mood and take out their tempers (and basically have screaming tantrums) because of the pettiest things on the Concierge's, because they know they can get away with it- and have been for years/decades! And if you want to keep your job, you just have to stand there and take it. Any lip and you're out. Complain to your Supervisor and zero will be done because they need to keep the contract and keep the client happy. 3) The second half of your job is to be a butt in a chair doing clerical and phone work all day getting paid half of what clerks and secretaries do while the company makes 3x's what you are and you're responsible for security... Also if there are any major projects going on, you WILL be doing the work of at least 3 people. 4)You will also be forced to be a Therapist- trapped at your post, forced to listen to the long, drawn out bs lives of the wealthy and lonely and mentally disturbed. 5)And if you're a beautiful woman, don't even bother, you will be pushed out by their jealous female clients who don't want their husbands and bf's hanging around you or your station/desk all day/night trying to pick you up!!) Good looking guys are ok. Why? Because husbands and bf's don't make such a stink about it. It's unmanly. ;) 6)There are no breaks, no lunchs/dinners, no leaving your post- period. (Yes, you can go to the bathroom... But believe me, they'd rather you didn't. Ha!) If you're lucky you will have a soda machine and a vending machine at your site. That's it. 7)The 'on site client management' (God help you) will break your chops at every turn. (ie. You should stand when approached at your desk, you should never take your jacket off (even when its 100 degs. with no A/C, don't let anyone sit here in this area, don't let X in he's going to kill his wife- if you do you'll lose your job (meanwhile- 300 people come and go during the course of an 8 hour shift.) There is a woman at one site who will come to your desk, push you aside and fix any 'out of place' or 'messy' things on that desk. (No, I'm not kidding.) 8) If you're new? Your paycheck is going to be skrewy for the first few months... Track your hours and contact your Supervisor immediately so corrections can be made... Eventually they will be. My advice? You desperately need a job? Have a thick skin? Work here- get in- find something better, or take the bs as long as you can without going ape%*$# on someone, and then get out move on with your life... You'll also learn a lesson or four I know I did... Money isn't everything... Being wealthy does not make you a good person, or a happy one!! Good luck!! (You're gonna need it!)
