Vantaggi
The first thing that stands out at Protiviti is the people and the warm culture. Right from the time HR personnel reached out to me on Linkedin, every interaction that I had was pleasant. The onboarding process (Passport to Protiviti) is one of a kind where the company has invested alot of resources in providing a great welcome to the new employees and makes it very easy for them to hop onboard infused in the values and culture that Protiviti wants to promote. The branding is very strong and gives a great first impression. The location of Toronto office is in the heart of financial district that makes you feel very connected. The team in Toronto office is relatively small and growing, hence you get a chance to actually know and interact with majority of your colleagues unlike bigger firms where you would hardly know anyone outside your own team. There are many social events and drinks giving you a chance to catchup and connect with colleagues outside work. The projects that Protiviti teams are working on are for leading financial institutions providing lots of exposure. The project management team and leadership on the project is very transparent and invested. There are regular team meetings that keep everyone in loop and provide opportunities to raise concerns or questions. There are fair opportunities and room given to innovate and propose solutions. Thinking out of the box is encouraged to provide client service excellence. There are tonnes of resources available at intranet and training opps provided to catchup on learning and keeping up to date. There is an open door policy practiced by leadership where you can raise concerns in confidence and have objective discussions without any fears. There is resourcing team available in each line of service to help you pursue your career interests and communicate the type of projects and geographical locations that you would like to work in. There are opportunities to work with teams from various parts of North American region. The pay is fair and compensation package includes a very fair bonus scheme that rewards performance and recognizes your contributions.
Svantaggi
The hiring process seemed to be unnecessarily long and took around 3 months. The onboarding takes place in U.S cities and Canadian employees can not relate to few sessions offered during the training. Due to smaller size, there is a bit of chaos in management of things, it is less organized than expected. It can take a while to figure out who's who and how are things done, making you feel lost for a while. Client service time vs internal errands time balance is difficult to manage. It is a less flatter structure than other consulting firms with majority of employees reporting to single director in each line of service. Just like any other consulting firm, the work/life balance is a challenge, at times you need to put up those extra hours to get things done but you sign up for it!
