APril 2020 and I'd finished from RCS. I was set to do a mini-vacation before returning to Canada...and then Canada shut down the borders! I was stranded in Japan with no job and only AirBNB. RCS took me back with no notice for a short term contract (even ending before the semester) even though all the schools were closed (so only paid 50%, but still), helped me get set up in a short-term lease at LeoPalace, and then went the above and beyond to help me get Japanese corona-money from the gov't. I was always treated quite well by all the staff at RCS (one of the reasons I stayed for a second year), but this experience clinched the deal why I would recommend them.

Salary. Salary is so low. And the contract is worded in such a way that you're not paid for anything beyond the flat line. Vacations: un paid. Get sick: ...we'll see... Gotta leave to do something in person (bank? post office?) Better hope there's a day off somewhere in your near future, ain't no one going to let you go during a free period.

In gerneral they care more about the quality of the people they hire, and they also look for opportunities for ALTs outside of the class (trainings and sponsored education). They are very supportive of academic work.

They don't do a lot of support for living in Japan, so if your Japanese isn't very good you might find it difficult to find support. Some of the HR team is very rude and unkind to teachers especially when answering questions (if they answer at all).
