Vantaggi
Great location, some of the old guard from pre-acquisition were great. My direct manager was a true teacher. Lack of direct oversight let me learn my craft from a wide variety of colleagues.
Svantaggi
Where to begin? It's a small company that ran itself like a large company (lots of overhead and staff who did nothing). The CTO is probably one of the most unprofessional, and frankly useless, type of person I've ever worked with. I think he told me five times in as many days that he now "owned the company." Great! Now do something more productive than taking up space in my meeting. The CEO at the time was so hopelessly out of touch, clearly just a figurehead who was surprised to learn that his own company had a proposal war room (it was down the hall from his office). Of course, he would have needed to actually leave his office and walk down the hall to know that. Having worked at a number of places, I can also tell you that the IT infrastructure was decidedly behind the curve relative to everyone else. This was in line with the professional services offerings we had which were based on pure waterfall/PMBOK project management work. Agile is neither a development construct nor a management adjective to these people. Also, how long can these guys milk Cat and Jaguar? Not much longer I'd guess.
