Vantaggi
The compensation, benefits and company functions are bar none the best in the industry. RSUI hires the best of the best, as well as the nicest and most honest people in the industry. They help you earn a discounted rate for your health insurance, host quarterly breakfasts or lunches and often have department outings to allow staff to blow off steam. Senior management keeps all employees informed on the state of the company, which is refreshing. I realize how fortunate I am to work for this company. However...
Svantaggi
As previous reviewer stated, back in 2008 we took one huge step forward with allowing compressed schedules for the non-exempt employees and one day of telecommuting for the exempt staff. Wonderful benefits for all! However in recent years we have taken two steps back. The company has not expanded its flexibility one iota since 2008. In all actuality they have begun to clamp down and push "core office hours". Everyone must be in the office between the hours of 9-4. Working during these hours and beyond is more than reasonable as we are a service driven industry, however every single exempt employee has a home set up and an IPhone and are perfectly capable of working from literally any where. As exempt employees do we really need to be chained to the office? Isn't that one of the benefits of working hard and earning your title, to not be treated as an hourly employee? It may be different in other departments, as I think the enforcement of these rules lay solely at the hands of the department manager (middle management). It has recently come to light that we are being monitored through our interoffice instant messaging system. Have you been away from your desk for too long? Are you logged off before 4 pm (no matter what time you came in)? Are you at lunch beyond 2 pm? In order to leave early, you have to plead your case and give up your lunch hour (as an exempt employee), yet are expected to travel and entertain often until late at night. The traveling and the entertaining come with the position, however it would be a lot easier to swallow if we were actually allowed to leave early for a doctor's appointment or simply because our desk is caught up and it's Friday. If anything pressing comes up, we are more than capable of logging on at home and addressing the needs of our clients (which we all do on a regular basis, well into the evening). It's really insulting, knowing you are being monitored and not being treated like the adults and salaried employees we are. Adding insult to injury, many of the non-exempt assistants leave for the day well before 4 pm. Why are they not being held to the same standards? From what I've seen, the assistants are untouchable. Don't get me wrong, many are really good and hardworking, but there are a handful that you just shake your head at and wonder how they have a job.
