There are so many lifers who believe their way is best. They refuse to try things in different ways especially when it's clear the current way does not work. When people are hired from elsewhere, their experience is ignored and often they are sidelined in favour of others. It's clear who favourites are as they are given more opportunities and then promoted quickly. People focus on extra curriculars more than actual work for visability and growth and management encourage it. There are different rules for different people making it clear you won't progress unless you are favoured by management.
