Vantaggi
I have worked for multiple Fortune 500 companies over the last 25 years and the term "family" get thrown around a lot as a buzzword for good PR. I should know. I probably created quite a few of those videos, but when the camera is turned off, and push comes to shove, they are still a corporation. Reliable Controls is a family. Many of these people have worked together for several decades and hang out together outside of work. Everyone is friendly, even the most introverted people feel comfortable enough to socialize and be themselves. We work hard, but also look out for each other's well being. At an institutional level, Reliable Controls offers support and programs so you have a good work life balance. You will find people who come from other corporations that now work for Reliable Controls, to find the company almost like a throwback, in the sense of a company of the past you would work 30 years, and retire and have great memories about your career at a company. The pay is fair. The managers are all personable. The coworkers are quirky, memorable, and work hard but also play hard. If you are into community service, environmentalism, social events, fitness, and just a group of people you can bond over shared values, you will find a few group of people here that you will so turn into good friends. The work produced at this company is a source of pride. Every level of the company works together, respected and recognized. The products we make are built beyond just to make a profit but to last and provide something positive to the world. If you work hard, you will be recognized. I'm a bit of a workaholic and putting in extra hours is normal for me (I do that on my own because I like my work). Flexibility in time off and using extra hours worked to take time off is very convenient. I will be blunt. I never expected to like this company as much as I have. If my career were to end at this company , I would be a happy man.
Svantaggi
Outside the HVAC world, you don't get the brand recognition as you do some other companies, which is unfortunate because this company deserves far more recognition. The other downside is how smart these people are. I mean these people are incredibly smart, and at times that can be a hard to keep up with how much they know about their field. This could be a positive or a negative depending on how you see it. Everyone is independently driven to do their best work, and that does lead to things like working longer hours than you should. It's not really pressure to put in more hours as much as pride in work.
