- Nepotism runs rampant at all levels of the company. Most predominantly within the executive team. - Complete lack of transparency despite that being one of the core values of the company and being preached as a high level of importance by the executive team - An aura of misdirection, dishonesty and spin permeating from the executive team directed towards their staff. - Lack of communication between teams within the company. Groups do not have any insight into what each other are doing and in some cases members of teams lack communication between them - A focus on individual Business groups rather than a focus on overall company success - An environment of registrar vs registry which creates an awkward and unhealthy work environment - Half-hearted attempts at building team culture through guilt or forced team participation. Those not participating are viewed as being not bought in to the success of the company or team - A total lack of understanding by upper and middle management as to what their individual team members are doing/responsible for. - Disregard for work that is not highly visible and able to be showcased by upper management. The dirty jobs that need to get done are overlook and those that do them go overlooked. - Lack of career advancement beyond middle management. All higher level director and above positions are filled from outside despite a number of qualified, motivated, hardworking internal candidates. - An attitude of negativity exists towards certain parts of the business creating a difficult work environment. This attitude coming from the highest levels of the company creating an environment of us vs them. - Focus on short term wins rather than long term and sustainable business initiatives. - Lack of resources, prioritization, and focus for key backend departments and business segments. - Inexperienced executive team - It is clear there is a problem when free lunches, location, and “beer Fridays’ are highlighted in recruiting to try and entice employees rather than a focus on business aspects and career advancement.

There are some really great individuals to work with. Company tries to incorporate fun into the workday and they are somewhat flexible with work schedules and has some good perks - free snacks, the week off between Christmas & New Years, and lunch is provided on Fridays.

It appears that most decisions are made only considering the short term. Rightside hires on the gimmick that they have fun at work, however while the work environment itself was fun on the surface, it often went past healthy competition and teamwork to one that was rife with backstabbing and resentment. Also, there is little growth potential and rampant nepotism. They hire many higher level positions through contacts externally, and promote those they have personal relationships with. There is a lack of organization, communication & cohesiveness between individual departments which results in key people not being informed of business decisions that impact them timely. As this causes a rippling effect, it does not go unnoticed by other companies, employees and clients.
