I left the company when it went back to being private in 2015, so I cannot speak for how it is since the change. I have heard things have taken a turn for the worse since then, but cannot confirm first hand. However, during the time I was there I found the company allowed for personal growth. It also gave time for engineers to delve in to areas outside of their role. This sort of venturing allowed much of the support tools to be built and I myself was able to extend my knowledge in to other areas which ultimately benefited the company. Also, once every 2 weeks they gave half a day for 'self training', where you spent that time learning about something which you chose to (so long as it was job related... but that wasn't monitored). The whole job was very laid back, which allowed for slackers to do what they do best, but also allowed for the keen employees to flourish. All in all, a great company to work for. I enjoyed my time there and felt I grew as an engineer.

The laid-back nature of the job allowed some managers to slack off and not put enough focus on to members of the team who didn't perform as well as they should. You would make suggestions to management who would agree to your face but then ignore you entirely. The cons which I saw were limited to my local (middle) management, so may not be indicative of the entire company.
