All the 'seconds' on candy you can eat, from the racks that they put in the employee break room. You also receive an employee discount in the store. But, after working there for awhile, I refused to eat any of the seconds and I quit buying it, because I know some of the things done to candy before it is boxed or put on the racks. Pay is just OK, but better than being unemployed.

No real chance of promotion. Benefits aren't that great - but better than nothing I guess. Local Supervisors/management - Some of them act more like slave owners. Everyone knows that their job can end at any time because of the threats coming out from the KC office. So, Supervisors end up taking their frustrations out on the hourly workers, because hourly workers make more money than the Supervisors & some of the local management do. Of course, Supervisors also play 'favorites' & give them 'lead' positions where they don't have to work like the average workers in enrobing, pack/wrap, etc. Firing policies - RSC only builds plants in 'at will' states. That way they don't need a reason to fire you. Just don't file a workers comp claim if you get hurt, because that is usually an automatic firing. I have seen it happen a lot. Chemicals - RSC doesn't allow scented products in their plant, for fear of contaminating their candy. But, that doesn't stop them from using & exposing workers to toxic chemicals. There are MSDS books in each department, but employees don't have the time to look at them. I have a friend in management who said that the alarms to notify employees to evacuate, were shut off, when there was an anhydrous ammonia leak. They turn off the alarms so they won't have to stop production. They just close the doors & carry on like nothing is wrong. RSC also uses outside contractors to spray pesticides in some areas of the plant, without giving it time to air out before workers come back to work. I believe this Supervisor, because I know of 4 younger people who have been diagnosed with cancer in just a few years & 2 of the 4 have died.
