Vantaggi
Very large company giving lots of opportunity for career growth and lateral movement. If you are looking to grow within the company and have a long-term career outlook, then Ryder can be very promising. Very strong attention to employee and customer safety. Very-well defined policies and procedures. Company offers lots of training opportunities. Some of the employee benefits are nice.
Svantaggi
Ryder is not forward-looking in terms of technology adoption. Antiquated use of technology and systems are literally 20-years behind the times (just to mention one example: I observed a Y2K-type system failure in 2015 due to one of these systems - undoubtedly costing the company millions). Lack of integrated systems and technology contributes to a lot of frustration at administrative and mid-level management roles, and contributes to tremendous losses in productivity. Salaried staff literally has to make-up for inadequate tools (systems and technology) by putting-in extra hours at work. The joke is that if you work for Ryder you only have to work half-days (meaning 12-hours).
