Vantaggi
If you’re right out of college, SHI is not a bad place to start your career. You’ll get quick experience that can help boost your next opportunity.
Svantaggi
I would not recommend anyone with more than 1-2 years professional experience to apply or accept a role as an Inside Sales Account Manager in the Austin office. The role itself is really a punching bag for customers and for the field sellers. Our attrition rates are awful right now, and as I’m writing this review I’ve heard of 2 people who have put in their notice this week. The company is losing tenured ISAMs at an alarming rate, which is being seemingly ignored by senior leadership. In this role, a seller is expected to work twice as hard as their field counterpart for 1/10th of the pay. Year over year, there has been a deliberate decrease to the commission rate of inside sellers. So if you do accept a role here, be prepared to have less earning potential the longer you stick around. I would be remiss to not mention benefits as well. In a booming city like Austin, SHI’s benefits feel archaic. They offer bare minimum health/dental/vision and that’s really it. There is no parental leave policy in place, no flexibility in your work, and SHI doesn’t spend a dime on extra perks (you’ll notice all “perks” are paid for by sponsors).
