Vantaggi
- Current management is nice and flexible as long as you come in consistently and not call out of work - Job processes are fairly straightforward and easy to learn + go through the motions - There are a good amount of slow days on less busy days that balance out rush hours; as a result the pace and energy feels more relaxed on average - Smooth running games without issues basically gives you 20 minute chunks to do work or be totally unproductive as long as you help guests properly when needed. Good side gig if you have another source of income/work or are in school - At least as a GEG, for more difficult customer interactions you can defer them to leads and management. If you're just a part-timer you can at least avoid bad retail experiences this way. - Somehow have 401K rolled in as a part-timer, so that's nice
Svantaggi
- Staffing and scheduling is based on reservations in advance, therefore staff numbers are prone to being vulnerable to surprise customer bookings. You will sometimes have to run multiple rooms yourself when each room requires at least 1 staff member and can be unnecessarily stressful if issues come up during the games - Coworkers tend to call out due to the part-time hours not being high stakes, so scheduling can be inconsistent with last minute changes and extensions - You will almost always run some kind of corporate or party event and these situations can be frustrating if you lack people skills or have bad time management - Lots of screaming, knew one coworker who quit due to sensory overload. Another coworker had hearing problems due to this; actual occupational hazard, remember to use noise cancelling headsets. - Corporate management is inscrutable sometimes, they have a referral program that they never paid a coworker. Tech team has communication issues with the store and many tech issues can happen due to updates or other things that can be really bad if it happens when its busy. Be prepared if a guest is angry about this
