Scholastic has been soliciting their participating schools with a "FREE" copy for every teacher of a book called "GEORGE" which is written about transgender people. We have had several complaints about this book, specifically from schools with religious affiliates who, as respectfully as possible, plead with the call center employees to be removed from their mailing lists as the book requested is not appropriate for 5th grade, nor was it requested. Certain call-center employees are put in a position to NOT argue with the customers and try to resolve all issues with a polite and assuring manner. I am writing this to complain because an employee who has been nothing more than a positive reflection of this institution was reprimanded today because they admitted to believing in GOD when a preacher from a christian school called to complain. The employee, under suggestion of the management - wrote an editorial outlining the complaint and the supervisor outright called the employee a liar because she did not quote the preacher word for word. The editorials are meant to be a summary of common complaints and are not intended to be direct quotes. They mentioned that their initial instinct was to fire her for her outright lies but decided to reprimand her instead, citing that the editorials are for review by management and as such they are not interested in the employee interpretation of events or opinions. The supervisor took this a step further by expressing her own opinions that this employee was fighting their own inner demons and need to seek professional help. . Obviously, this employee is seeking employment elsewhere and feels completely insulted by the supervisor who handled this situation in a very poor and unprofessional manner. There is no respect
